I wanted to share a little story about my dad, Brian Sheardown from Lincolnshire, England. Years ago, he went fishing with Ron on Cape Cod — and it turned out to be one of the highlights of his life. Dad still talks about those trips even now, at 90 years old. He proudly showed everyone the photo of himself with the incredible 35lb fish he caught with Ron — it was one of his favorite stories to tell. While going through some of his things recently, I found photos and letters from those trips, and it reminded me how much joy those days brought him. Thank you, Ron, for giving my dad such unforgettable memories and for being part of something he cherished so deeply. You truly helped create moments that have lasted a lifetime.

Ron was a wonderful guide - super knowledgeable, I learned so much from him, and enjoyed the entire experience. He also knew the spots to go to, which was invaluable, and provided advice well beyond the scope of the lesson!!

I always wanted to do surf casting and as a recently retired lawyer I had the time to do so. I was fortunate to schedule a lesson with Ron Arra which was beyond my expectations! At first I was not able to even direct my cast to land in the ocean. After another 40 minutes of instruction and encouragement from Ron, I got it ! Ron taught me the technique in simple direct terms and i am planning to buy a rod and reel this week. My lesson was not only satisfying but also instilled a sense of peacefulness. In addition, Ron is a great conversationalist and he is extremely knowledgeable about fishing, fish behavior and the geography of the Cape. The lesson was like going fishing with your uncle. See you on the beach!

Our experience with Ron was absolutely wonderful! After teaching us some knots and explaining various lures, Ron gave expert instruction in surf casting. Our family (ages 15-57) had a great time. Ron is a wonderful, warm man with an incredible amount of experience. By the end of the lesson, we were each casting with good technique and self-confidence. Also, Ron’s experience as a special education teacher proved valuable, as he quickly connected with our neurodivergent son and got him involved in the activity. When we return to the Cape, we will certainly reach out to Ron for a follow up lesson. Highly recommended!!

Ron is a great teacher. My teenage sons learned a lot and had a wonderful time out on the water. Now they’re ready to get out there and put their lessons to work!

What can I say? This was exactly what I expected as well as wanted from a guide /instructor experience. Ron is not only a 5 time world champion. He is also a proud father, husband and a man of nature. Completely aware of everything around him under the blue skies of earth. I will also add he is a good son of his parents he spoke so fondly of. The nuance of his lesson during our time is what made the difference for me. Yes, there are the big technical things he will help you with. But the small tips , hand positioning or the slight rotation of your hips required you to put away the phone, To not look at the watch and simply pay attention. The time will go by quicker than you think. I can not stress enough regardless of your experience level in surf fishing and overall casting... at some point in time, a session with Ron is in my belief a requirement. Tight lines . Ron is a great instructor! I learned so much in a short period of time. In addition to surfcasting, he also showed me how to catch quahogs! I had a great time.
